Encryption Guidance

  • Channels 0–3 all use the default Meshtastic key (AQ==) — any node on the mesh can receive them
  • Only jtxm-ops (ch 4) uses a private pre-shared key, restricted to mesh operators
  • The ops key is shared in-person or via a trusted, encrypted mechanism
  • Do not publish the ops key publicly
  • Emergency services may request plaintext summaries outside the mesh

Channel Discipline

  • jtxm-alerts: emergency and priority traffic only — no casual chat
  • jtxm-ops: operator coordination only — not for general use
  • Keep routine chatter on LongFast or jtxm-gen
