JTXMesh

Off-grid communications for the Justin, TX community.

JTXMesh is a community-operated radio mesh network serving Justin, Texas and nearby areas. It provides local messaging, tinkering, and coordination — with or without cellular networks or the internet.

What Is a Mesh Network?

A mesh network uses low-power radios to pass messages from device to device — no towers, no internet, no subscriptions.

What JTXMesh Is For

  • Casual messaging between neighbors
  • Learning and experimentation
  • Community coordination
  • Local resilience
  • Emergency and disaster communications

How to Join

  1. Get a supported LoRa device
  2. Install Meshtastic firmware
  3. Apply the JTXMesh configuration
  4. Power on and join the mesh

No license required to listen. Participation is community-driven.

Technology

JTXMesh currently runs on Meshtastic firmware. We're also exploring MeshCore as an additional mesh protocol option in the near future.

  • Meshtastic — Primary network, well-established
  • MeshCore — Experimental, coming soon

Community-Run

JTXMesh is maintained by local volunteers and operators. There are no guarantees — only cooperation.

If you're nearby and curious, turn on a node and say hello.

Emergency Readiness

During outages or emergencies, JTXMesh may be used to:

  • Share status updates
  • Coordinate volunteers
  • Maintain situational awareness

This does not replace 911 or emergency services.
